Youth Leader Says PDP NWC Are Playing Politics With Housing Allowance

After the return of N122.4 million by 6 National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday, fresh reports have claimed that returning the money was a move to play politics by those NWC members.

According to the party’s deputy National Youth Leader, Timothy Osadolor, the return of the monies to the party was a way of playing politics with their housing allowance.

Naija News reports that in the light of this, 16 other members of the NWC are under serious pressure to return the controversial housing allowance.

Osadolor in a report by the Saturday Punch said the controversial money was a housing allowance for the NWC members.

He said: “it is unfortunate that those who are now playing politics of malice with their housing allowance were even those who pressured the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu into signing and approving such an allowance for them.”

The deputy youth leader, who described the act by his colleagues as feigning morality, noted that the decision to pay the controversial housing allowance was made by the NWC and minutes of the meeting was taken, it was then voted and signed, so “coming to the public now to play to the gallery for what they partook in is nothing but a wicked act and an act of mischief.”

He explained further that these same people have pressured Ayu for the last three month to approve the so called housing allowance because it is their entitlement.

Osadolor added that most of the members of the NWC said they all came from different parts of the country and that they had yet to get a befitting accommodation matching their national status.

“If they had integrity, they wouldn’t be doing this, because this is something that they requested, demanded over three months, pressurised the man (Ayu) and made him look like a bad person and eventually got approval. They are now using it to play politics because one man is pressing their remote button from Port Harcourt. It is laughable, painful and unfortunate,” Osadolor added.

To buttress this, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, stated that the money paid to the members of the NWC was legal, and that there were records of evidence to back them.

He said “No need to argue over the payment. It is legal. There are records at the party’s secretariat to back up the payment.”

Osadolor, noted that he would not allow himself to be used by forces bent on destroying the party and its chances of winning the 2023 elections.
