Some loyalists of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike on Tuesday claimed not to be aware of his meeting with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu in France.
There had been reports that Wike met with Tinubu in Paris, France on Tuesday ahead of the 2023 general elections.
A further report had it that loyalists of Governor Wike including Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, his Oyo State counterpart, Seyi Makinde and his colleague from Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu also attended the meeting.
There are speculations that Wike might have reached an agreement with Tinubu and the APC due to his rift with the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.
A former member of the House of Representatives and PDP in Rivers State, Ogbonna Nwuke, on Tuesday evening, while speaking with Leadership in Port Harcourt, the state capital, however, said he is not aware of the meeting.
Nwuke said: “To tell you the truth, we are not aware of any meeting between Governor Wike and Tinubu. In fact, I am hearing it from you for the first time.”
