Following Sunday’s humiliating 6-3 derby loss to Manchester City, Cristiano Ronaldo’s fate at Manchester United was once again questioned.

Reports have it he may be allowed to quit the club in January.

At the Etihad Stadium, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was kept off the field by United manager Erik ten Hag, who insisted that he didn’t bring the Portuguese player on ‘out of respect’ for his career.

According to The Telegraph, Ten Hag and club officials are now open to discussing a transfer as Ronaldo plans to leave in January, midway through the season.

Since being denied the chance to leave Old Trafford, Ronaldo has played just 80 minutes in the Premier League, and his last league start came in United’s 4-0 loss to Brentford at the beginning of September.

Ronaldo was forced to watch United’s humiliation from the safety of the dugout against the league’s defending champions, Manchester City, and he was obviously irritated by his team’s performances.

Ronaldo was rejected by a number of European clubs due to his desire to play for a Champions League club and further solidify his position as the competition’s top scorer.

Many major teams were also unable to meet his exorbitant compensation demands.

Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia did make Ronaldo an offer, but the iconic No. 7 is eager to stay in Europe and United is now open to proposals for him.

After Cristiano Ronaldo’s most recent decision to consider leaving Manchester United in the January transfer window, Chelsea’s co-owner, Todd Boehly, has reportedly been put on high alert.
