The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has sent a note of appreciation to former President Olusegun Obasanjo after Wednesday’s visit.
Tinubu in the short statement on Wednesday evening also appreciated the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun as well as the entire people of the state for a warm welcome.
Naija News recalls earlier on Wednesday, Tinubu met with Obasanjo at his Abeokuta residence as part of his consultations ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
The chopper of the former Governor of Lagos State landed at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Oke Mosan, Abeokuta around 1 pm.
The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun who was on the ground received Tinubu, while his Deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele and former Governors Olusegun Osoba, Gbenga Daniel also welcomed their leader.
Tinubu immediately went straight into the closed-door meeting with Obasanjo.
Others at the meeting were the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, former APC Chairman, Bisi Akande, Nuhu Ribadu and several others.
After the visit, Tinubu took to his Twitter account where he shared a note of appreciation as well as pictures from the meeting.
He wrote: “My gratitude to former President Obasanjo, Governor Dapo Abiodun and the great people of Ogun State for the fantastic welcome.
“Thank you.”
I Didn’t Come For Campaign
After the closed-door meeting, Tinubu reportedly told the crowd of supporters at the MKO Abiola stadium that he was not in Ogun for campaigns yet but just came to say thank you.
He said: “We love what the governor is doing and we are glad with all the support you have given him. Campaign has not started yet, I’m just here to greet you. Thank you and God bless you. God bless Ogun state, God bless Nigeria, God bless your children. Thank you.”
