Former Kaduna Central lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has knocked President Muhammadu Buhari over his recent statement that he is eager to complete his tenure and leave office.

President Buhari was quoted on Monday to have said the presidency has been tough and he is eager to go.

As earlier reported by Naija News, President said the North-West had posed more challenges, and some success had been recorded in other regions, North-East and South-South.

He made his mind known on Monday in Daura, Katsina State, when he received some Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC), legislators and political leaders at his residence.

In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari advised some indigenes in the South-South to stop hurting national assets, which also affect their livelihood.

“I am eager to go. I can tell you it has been tough. I am grateful to God that people appreciate the personal sacrifices we have been making,” he added.

Reacting to the statement, Sani took to his Twitter account on Tuesday morning insinuating that Buhari expected to perform magic in office but now that reality has dawned, he is eager to go.

He wrote: “Buhari was eager to be president and now eager to leave the presidency; He came in to perform magic and now running away from juju.”

Naija News reports Buhari will end his second term as the democratically elected President of Nigeria and hand over power on May 29, 2023.
