Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) have arrived in Port Harcourt, Rivers State for a crucial meeting with Governor Nyesom Wike.

Naija News understands the PDP leadership, led by the BoT chairman, Adolphus Wabara, arrived in Port Harcourt around 12:30 pm and went straight to the Government House for the closed-door meeting.

Top on the agenda is how to resolve the crisis plaguing the main opposition party and reconcile aggrieved persons ahead of the 2023 general elections.

It was further gathered that the PDP delegation comprises seven top chieftains of the party.

Apart from Wabara, others are former Governor of Kogi State, Ibrahim Idris, former Enugu Governor, Chief Okwesilieze Nwodo, former Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun; a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Kabiru Turaki, Dr. Esther Uduehi and Hajia Zainab Maina.

Wike Camp Yet To Shift Ground

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership has reportedly expressed worries over the silence of Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike‘s camp following their meeting in Enugu State on Sunday.

Naija News recalls that five governors elected on the platform of the opposition party who are loyalists to Governor Wike, met on Sunday in Enugu to deliberate over the crisis rocking the party which involves PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The Governors include Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde; Samuel Ortom (Benue), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Wike.

However, the party chieftains have since kept mum about the outcome of their meeting and the development is said to have unsettled the leadership of the party as the 2023 general elections draw near.

A chieftain of the party who spoke with newsmen on condition of anonymity, however, believed that the lingering dispute can only be settled by the Board of Trustees (BoT) Reconciliation Committee and Atiku.

Recall that Wike and his allies have been at war with the leadership of the party since the conduct of PDP’s national convention where Atiku Abubakar emerged as the party’s candidate for the 2023 presidential elections.

Wike and his group have since continued to demand the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu as the chairman of the party, to be replaced by a southerner to balance the leadership positions in the party which they said had been in favour of the North.
