The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the appointment of a caretaker committee to control the party in Zamfara State.
Naija News reports that the party appointed the committee in pursuant to Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution 2017 (as amended).
This was made known in a statement signed by the National Spokesman of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan.
Those in the committee are Captain Umar Bature (chairman), Yusuf L. Dabazzau (secretary), Farouk Shettima Rijiya (member), Bamo Abdullahi Kanoma (member), Muhammadu Dan Gwanma Gumi (member), Usamatu Maharazu Marafa (member), Bala Mohammed Zurmi (member), Sani Ahmed Kaura (member), Medinah Shehu (woman) and Abba Bello Oando (Youth).
The PDP said the “caretaker committee is to oversee the affairs of our party in Zamfara State for a period of not more than 90 days or until when a new state EXCO is elected in line with the provisions of the PDP Constitution 2017 (as amended).
“All party leaders, critical stakeholders, teeming members and supporters of our party in Zamfara State are urged to remain united as we collectively reclaim our stolen governorship mandate and move forward.”
Recall that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP had on the 28 of June 2021, dissolved the Zamfara State executives of the party.
The sack of the state executives was related to the drama surrounding the defection of the Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The National Working Committee, NWC, has approved the dissolution of the Zamfara State Executive of the party in line with the provision of Section 29 (2)(b) of the PDP Constitution 2017 (as amended).
“All party leaders, critical stakeholders, and teeming members of our party in Zamfara state should, by this, be guided accordingly,” Ologbondiyan stated.
