Taiwo Adisa, the Chief Press Secretary to the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has debunked the claim that his principal was absent from the rally of the Peoples Democratic Party because of an alleged rift with the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.

Adisa, on Friday, said Governor Makinde provided adequate logistics to convey members of the party from the Ibadan Airport to Osogbo.

He further stated that Makinde’s absence has no link with the decision of Atiku to pick the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.

The spokesman noted that Governor Makinde was absent at the rally because he had been outside the country to attend to crucial issues in Europe which clashed with the timing of the Osogbo rally.

Adisa, while speaking with Tribune on Friday, said, “Apart from all these, the Chief of Staff to the Governor led officials of Oyo State to the rally.

“So, there is no truth in the speculations linking the absence of Makinde from the Osogbo rally to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s Vice Presidential candidacy.”
