The two factions of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have continued to trade blames over the party’s situation in the south-western state.

Naija News reports the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke recently won the Osun State governorship election, defeating incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the APC.

Many political observers believe the crisis within the APC caused by the fight between the loyalists of the Governor and those of the Minister of Interior and former state Governor, Rauf Aregbesola is largely responsible for the development.

However, the Aregbesola faction known as The Osun Progressives (TOP) said they had wanted to reconcile before the July 16 governorship election in the state but the Oyetola faction was not ready.

The leader of the group, Alhaji Rasaq Salinsile who made this known on Wednesday added that they met with the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu, for reconciliation but their efforts were not successful.

He however denied allegations of working for the PDP and its candidate, Senator Adeleke during the recently concluded polls.

Salinsile maintained that the impunity on the part of Governor Oyetola and that of his factional leader, Gboyega Famodun was responsible for the loss of APC at the polls.

The faction went further to express readiness to reconcile.

Responding, however, Famodun said Aregbesola and his supporters should not even consider themselves as APC members.

He disclosed that appropriate committees had been set up at the ward level to investigate their activities and discipline them accordingly.
