    Tinubu/Shettima Campaign: Lalong Speaks On Turning Down DG Position

    Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong has distanced himself from a group which staged a protest demanding that he turns down the job of Director General of the Tinubu/Shettima campaign organization.

    Lalong, who visited President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday to show his appreciation for the approval of the University of Jos as a national cancer centre, told State House Correspondents, that being an ardent member of the Catholic faith does not stop him from accepting the appointment.

    He went on to state that even the Pope is not angry with his decision to accept the job.

    He advised Nigerians to avoid ethnic or religious sentiments while also adding that he has already accepted the job and no one would stop him from performing his responsibilities.

    2023: Sowore Appoints Campaign Spokesperson

    The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore has announced the appointment of Onyinye-Gandhi Chukwunyere as his campaign spokesperson.

    The appointment was made public in a statement on Wednesday by Mary Abosede Ojo, on behalf of the campaign council.

    Naija News understands the appointment is with immediate effect.

    “Mr. Chukwunyere is a lawyer, policy analyst, public and international affairs commentator, and a social crusader,” the statement noted.

    “He is from Ekwereazu, in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo state. The appointment is effective immediately.”

    I Used My Money For The Party – PDP Women Leader Speaks As She Defects To APC With 800 Supporters

    Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Women Leader for Kebbi Central, Kebbi State, Hajiya Yar-Sokoto Jega has dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

    Jega announced her defection while speaking at a ceremony in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.

    She insisted that the injustice and a lack of purposeful leadership made her leave the party.

    She went on to reveal that she decided to join the APC because of the many achievements of Gov. Atiku Bagudu, claiming that she joined the party with over 800 supporters.

    Call Your Supporters To Order – Tinubu Camp Fires Peter Obi

    The camp of the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu has asked the Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate Peter Obi, to tell his followers to desist from spreading false information.

    Speaking on behalf of the former governor of Lagos state, the Director of Media and Communications of the Tinubu Campaign Organisation(TCO), Bayo Onanuga said that supporters of the LP flag bearer have been purveying fake news to the general public which have been damaging the image of the APC candidate.

    A report had earlier emerged alleging that the Ghanian President, Nana Akufo-Addo wrote a letter to the APC presidential candidate urging him to step down for Peter Obi and take care of his health.

    Akufo-Addo however later debunked the report.

    Reacting to the news, the TCO media Director asked Obi to restrain his supporters who are damaging his principal’s reputation.

    Taraba APC Accuses Gov Ishaku Of Alleged Victimization Of Local Government Staff Members

    Taraba state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday, accused Governor Darius Ishaku and the state government of allegedly victimizing local government staff suspected to be APC supporters.

    The state APC publicity secretary, Mr. Aaron Artimas in a press statement issued to journalists in Jalingo, described the action as desperate shame and unacceptable.

    According to the APC, it has received a heart-wrenching and grieving report of the victimisation of some civil servants and community leaders in Sardauna Local government by the Taraba state government over their perceived partisanship.

    2023: PDP Speaks On Wike Banning Atiku’s Campaign In Rivers State

    The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has reacted to the claim that the state Governor, Nyesom Wike has plans to ban the presidential campaign of the party’s candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the state.

    The party noted that Governor Wike would have announced it publicly if he had the intention of halting Atiku’s campaign in the state.

    PDP State Publicity Secretary, Tambari Gbara in a statement released on Wednesday called on the former Rivers Southeast Senator, Ledogo Maeba to provide evidence that Wike said so.

    Gbara stated this while reacting to Maeba’s claim that Governor Wike was not pleased with their visit to Atiku in Abuja, and had warned them not to campaign for Atiku without his permission.

    2023: INEC Should Mandate Atiku, Tinubu, Others To Participate In Debates – Utomi

    Nigerian economist, Professor Pat Utomi has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to mandate 2023 presidential candidates to participate in open debates.

    Speaking at a World Press Conference in Lagos on Tuesday, Utomi urged INEC to disqualify any presidential candidate who fails to participate in a debate from the 2023 elections.

    The leader of the National Consultative Front (NCF) and Convener of the Big Tent, however, called for multiple debates ahead of the forthcoming polls, Naija News reports.

    He said: “We would like to make INEC insist that anyone who cannot participate in a debate should be disqualified from that election; especially at the presidential, gubernatorial and National Assembly levels.

    “We should have open debates, and not one, not two, but multiple debates.”

    Speaking further, Utomi also called on INEC to resume the Continous Voter Registration (CVR) until the end of October at least, saying that the suspension of the exercise could lead to the disenfranchisement of many Nigerians.

    Adeyanju Reacts As Ghana President Denies Telling Tinubu To Step Down For Peter Obi

    Human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has reacted to the denial by President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana that he asked the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to step down for the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Peter Obi.

    Naija News reports that Akufo-Addo had in a statement on Tuesday described the report in which he was quoted to have told Tinubu to step down for Obi as totally false and mischievous.

    He maintained that it is not in his place to interfere in the internal affairs and politics of Nigeria, adding that Ghana and Nigeria boast of decades of cordial, strong and brotherly relations.

    Reacting in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Tuesday, Adeyanju accused supporters of the LP presidential candidate of being behind the fake news.

    The lawyer asserted that ‘Obedients’ are known for lies, fake news, insults and propaganda.

    He wrote: “Everything about the Obedients are lies, fake news, insults and propaganda. Social media presidency folks.”

    Panic As Atiku, PDP ‘Refuse’ To Meet Wike’s Demands… Rivers Governor Draws Closer To APC

    Indications have emerged that the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar may not give in to the demands of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

    Sensing that his demands may not be met, Governor Wike has reportedly allowed the All Progressives Congress (APC) to make inroads into the South-south state.

    Naija News reports that the Rivers State Governor has, in recent times, been meeting with some APC chieftains loyal to Tinubu.

    The Rivers State Governor had recently invited the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, former Governor Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila to inaugurate some projects in his state.

    Sources, who spoke with Vanguard, hinted that the decision of the PDP leaders not to meet the demands of the governor might be responsible for Wike’s invitation of APC governors and leaders into Rivers State.

    2023: Wike Expresses Only Regret After Losing PDP Presidential Ticket

    The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has opened up on his regret while making a veiled reference to losing out on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket for 2023 which ruled him out of the possibility of emerging the next President of Nigeria.

    Speaking on Tuesday, Wike who lamented the dearth of committed leaders in Nigeria revealed that he regrets not having the opportunity to deal with bandits, terrorists and other criminals operating in the country.

    Naija News reports he expressed his mind while speaking during the commissioning of the dualised Ogbunuabali-Eastern bypass road in Rivers State.

    Wike who lost the PDP ticket to Atiku Abubakar however said he will continue to serve the people of Rivers State with passion because of his commitment to the people.
