    Wike Summons Rivers PDP Leaders, Stakeholders Meeting

    Governor Nyesom Wike of River State has summoned a meeting of leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

    The meeting which started at 2 pm on Thursday is the first in the state since the party’s presidential primary and the crisis that followed Wike’s failure to grab the presidential and vice-presidential ticket.

    The meeting is being held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

    While Wike was quoted to have said, “Nothing has happened yet, but something will soon happen,” sources disclosed that the party stakeholders in the state had yet to hear directly from the governor since the crisis engulfed the opposition party.

    It was gathered that Governor Wike is expected to brief PDP leaders and stakeholders on his position and the next line of action regarding the party crisis.

    Ayu: Keep To Your Word – Udom Urges PDP Leaders

    The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, on Thursday, called on the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to keep to their promises.

    Udom stated this amid the calls for the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu to resign from office.

    Ayu’s decision to remain in office and the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, refusal to prevail on him has seen the camp of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike pull out of the presidential campaign council of the party.

    Wike’s camp on Wednesday insisted that it would not be involved in the presidential campaign if Ayu does not resign.

    Atiku in his reaction to their stand said Ayu will only be removed from his position if the law in the party allows it.

    Udom who is the Chairman of the PDP presidential campaign council said the aggrieved members of the party have the right to express their grievances.

    He further stated that the party will not ignore the issues, adding that everyone is needed for the party to win the 2023 presidential election.

    Dele Momodu Speaks On Gov Wike’s Camp Pulling Out Of PDP Campaign Council

    Former presidential aspirant, Dele Momodu on Thursday reacted to the decision of some leaders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to pull out of the campaign council of the party.

    Naija News had earlier reported that the camp of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike pulled out of the campaign of the party over the decision of the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu to remain in office.

    Governor Wike’s camp had called for Ayu’s resignation over Northern dominance in key positions of party.

    Momodu, in his statement on Arise TV, said he believes the crisis in the main opposition party will be resolved.

    He further stated that the party leaders will continue to appeal to aggrieved members to shed their grievances.

    Ayu Made A ‘Private Arrangement’ With Tambuwal To Hand Over The PDP Presidential Primaries To Atiku – Jang

    A former Governor of Plateau State, Jonah Jang has said that the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu helped the flag bearer of the party, Atiku Abubakar to emerge as the winner of the party’s presidential primaries.

    Jang made the allegation on Wednesday after a meeting of some PDP members who are on the side of the Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt.

    He said that Ayu made a private agreement with the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, to shortchange Governor Nyesom Wike and other aspirants at the party presidential primary.

    Naija News recalls that Tambuwal during the primaries stepped down for Atiku and asked his supporters to cast their vote for him.

    Speaking about the happening, Jang compared Ayu to a “referee” who helped one of the sides to score a goal and blew the whistle that a goal had been scored.

    Just Apologise For Your Error On Tinubu – Keyamo Tells Peter Obi

    The spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, has asked the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, to apologise for his recent comment.

    Naija News recalls that Obi had in a video accused a Tinubu Support Group of spreading a Whatsapp message calling on Yorubas not to vote for him in the 2023 presidential election.

    Obi claimed that the Tinubu group warned Yorubas that a vote for him would be a vote for a seaport in the South-South and South-East.

    Reacting in a statement, Keyamo said the former Governor of Anambra State and his supporters should be on the terror watch list for circulating the “dangerous video with fake messages”.

    The Minister of State for Labour and Employment accused Obi of attempting to cause religious and tribal crises in the country, hence calling on security agencies to investigate him.

    PDP Crisis: Wike Is An Asset To The Party – Bode George

    A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George has described the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike as an asset to the party.

    George stated this amidst the crisis rocking the party and Wednesday’s declaration by the Wike camp not to support the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar except the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu resigns and is replaced by a southerner.

    He argued that when almost everyone deserted the PDP following its back-to-back losses in presidential elections, it was Wike that provided the needed leadership, and gave his all to ensure the party remains afloat and relevant.

    George also blasted Atiku for ‘fleeing’ to Dubai after losing the presidential election in 2019.

    2023: Northern Elders React To Mahdi Shehu’s Provocative Remarks Against Peter Obi

    The Coalition of Northern Elders For Peace and National Unity (CNEFPNU), has condemned outrightly the provocative statement against the presidential candidate of the Labour party, (LP) Peter Obi by Mahdi Shehu, a Katsina-based activist.

    This is coming after a viral video captured the moment Shehu was advising Christians in the North against voting for a presidential candidate of southern extraction in the forthcoming election.

    According to the Katsina-born activist in the video seen by this publication, a vote for Christian Southern candidate, particularly the LP candidate will amount to a vote for Biafra, and a secessionist.
    Shehu further alleged that Northerners both Christians and Muslims are being discriminated in the South East, South West, and South-South, regardless their religion.

    Reacting to the development, CNEFPNU in a statement signed by the National Coordinator, Prof Abdulkadir Mohammed Gummi, and National Secretary, Hajiya Hadiza M. Gwazo, described the disposition of Mahdi as “distasteful, provocative, and capable of inciting ethnoreligious tension.

    PDP Crisis: Wike Angry Over His Loss At Presidential Primary – Osadolor

    A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Timothy Osadolor, has slammed Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State over the crisis rocking the opposition party.

    Osadolor, a member of the PDP National Working Committee, said that Governor Wike is bitter and angry over his loss in the party’s presidential primary.

    Naija News recalls that the Wike camp pulled out of the party’s Campaign Council and vowed not to partake in Atiku’s campaign activities pending Ayu’s resignation.

    This news platform reports that the Wike camp made the decisions at a strategic meeting held in Port Harcourt and concluded in the early hours of Wednesday.

    Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has said that the victory of All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in the forthcoming election would accelerate national growth and development in the country.

    Ganduje hailed the former governor of Lagos State, saying he is a man of integrity who also, according to him, has contributed wholesomely to the development of democracy in Nigeria.

    The party chieftain who spoke on Wednesday while accepting an appointment as the patron of the APC National Integrity Movement (ANIM) at the Government House, Kano, said Tinubu’s track records and pedigree shows that he can propel Nigeria to greatness if elected as president.

    Wike vs Ayu: Atiku Failed To Honour London Agreement – PDP Chieftain

    A top chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, of failing to honour the agreement reached with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and other PDP chieftains at a meeting in London, UK.

    Recall that Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State had in August met with Wike, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State in London over their demand for the resignation of the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

    While details of the meeting were not made known at the time, sources disclosed that the former Vice President met with the governors over the crisis rocking the party and agreed to most of the demands they tabled before him.

    Speaking to The PUNCH, a top chieftain of the PDP alleged that Atiku failed to honour the promise he made to Wike and other aggrieved governors during their meeting in London recently.

    Lagos PDP: I Didn’t Approve Funke Akindele As Jandor’s Running Mate – Bode George

    A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George has revealed that he is not privy to the decision to pick Nollywood star, Funke Akindele (Jenifa) as the deputy governorship candidate for Lagos State.

    He explained that it was the party’s governorship candidate, Olajide Adeniran popularly called Jandor who picked her.

    Speaking further, George said the emergence of Funke Akindele is a breach of agreement and there’s a need to set the records straight for future references.

    He explained that Jandor was expected to pick Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour as his running mate based on initial agreement and not Funke Akindele.

    The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has reportedly rejected a nomination of President Muhammadu Buhari for the Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council.

    There are claims that President Buhari suggested Margaret Chuba Okadigbo as the Zonal Coordinator for the campaign council in the South East.

    Sources that spoke with Sahara Reporters disclosed that the former Governor of Lagos State rejected the nomination.

    Margaret is the widow of the late former Senate President, Chuba Okadigbo.

    PDP Crisis: Your Hatred For Atiku Is Visible, Olisa Metuh Tells Bode George

    A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, has berated a former Deputy National Chairman of the party, Bode George, over his constant attacks on former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

    Metuh, a member of the party’s National Executive Committee, also accused George of working against the party’s presidential candidate, adding that his hatred for Atiku is now visible.

    He was reacting to the move by the camp of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to withdraw from the party’s campaign council and support Atiku’s campaign activities until the party’s National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, resigns from his position.

    Naija News reports that the Wike camp made the decisions at a strategic meeting held in Port Harcourt in the early hours of Wednesday.

    In a communique read by George, the Wike camp insisted that its members will not work with Atiku until Ayu resigns and allow an acting Chairman from the South to lead the party.
