    Atiku Announces Okowa As Running Mate, Reveals Reasons For Choice

    The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has officially announced Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate for the 2023 general elections.

    Naija News reports that Atiku officially unveiled Okowa as his running mate at the party’s National Secretariat after the Delta governor was screened and cleared by a Screening Committee on Thursday.

    Okowa had earlier arrived at the PDP National Headquarters, Wadata Plaza in Abuja to attend the vice-presidential screening exercise scheduled by the National Working Committee (NWC).

    Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Atiku revealed that he chose Okowa because he has the qualities to be the President and has an appreciation of the deep rot in which the country has been put into.

    The PDP Presidential candidate added that he chose Okowa because he is dedicated, trustworthy, and reliable and would support him wholeheartedly to steer the country to greater heights.

    2023: Tinubu’s Close Ally Gives Verdict On Ganduje Being Picked As Presidential Running Mate

    Reports making the rounds that Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has been picked as the running mate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu have continued to generate mixed reactions.

    Naija News recalls amidst the speculations of a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the APC, certain reports emerged on Wednesday claiming Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has reportedly been chosen as the running mate of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

    The claim was made in a statement to newsmen issued by the Director-General of Ganduje’s Support Group, Suleiman Magaji.

    However, a well-known loyalist of Tinubu, Jubril Gawat has debunked the report via a terse statement on his micro-blogging site, Twitter on Thursday.

    Naija News reports Gawat is the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwo-Olu on New Media and he described the reports of Ganduje’s emergence as Tinubu’s running mate as ‘fake news.’

    2023: What Okowa Said After Atiku Announced Him As Running Mate

    Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, on Thursday, appreciated the presidential candidate of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar for picking him as the party’s Vice Presidential candidate.

    According to Okowa, PDP produced a very experience presidential candidate that would rescue Nigeria from the terrible situation.

    Okowa who noted that it was hard to pick him, promised to work for the party’s victory in 2023.

    The Delta State Governor stated this at the party’s headquarters while accepting Atiku’s offer as his running mate.

    I’ll Win 2023 Presidential Election Just Like My Father Won 1993 Elections – Kola Abiola

    The presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Kola Abiola has expressed optimism and confidence about winning the 2023 election in Nigeria.

    Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja at the national secretariat of the PRP, the younger Abiola said just like his father, Chief MKO Abiola emerged victorious in the 1993 presidential election, he is confident of victory in the 2023 presidential election.

    According to him, the youths of the country must be ready for true change which is what he is offering, adding that he plans to run an inclusive government.

    2023:Tinubu Quietly Submits Presidential Forms To INEC

    The Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has quietly submitted his presidential forms to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

    Naija News reports that Tinubu quietly submitted his presidential forms in order to beat the June 17 deadline set by the electoral agency for presidential candidates to submit the names of their deputies to the commission.

    A source told ThisDay on Wednesday night in Abuja that Tinubu and the APC submitted the forms in order not to risk disqualification from the 2023 Presidential election.

    This development comes after INEC had announced June 17 as the deadline for political parties to submit the list of candidates for president, vice-president, Senate and House of Representatives.

    Why I Won’t Hand Over My APC Senatorial Ticket To Lawan – Machina

    Bashir Machina, a Yobe North Senatorial candidate, has stated that Senate President Ahmad Lawan did not participate in the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election.

    Naija News reports that there have been moves by Lawan and the APC leadership to transfer the senatorial ticket secured by Machina to the Senate President.

    This is following Lawan’s lost of the APC’s presidential ticket to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the party’s primary.

    Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Machina claimed that Lawan never planned to return to the upper legislative chambers.

    While insisting that he won’t give his ticket to Lawan, he said the Yobe senator would not have contested for the presidency if he wanted to be in the Senate.

    Muslim-Muslim Ticket: Ajomale Hints On Tinubu’s Running Mate

    The immediate past chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Henry Ajomale, has spoken on the Muslim-Muslim ticket controversy that has surrounded the choice of vice president slot in the party.

    Ajomale stated that the debate over the Muslim-Muslim ticket is a distraction to the ruling party, stating that the conversation should be about competence and merit.

    Naija News reports that there have been different reactions to the speculation that the ruling APC may field a Muslim as the running mate of the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in the 2023 presidential election.

    Some APC chieftains in their reactions have asked Nigerians to ignore the religion of the party’s presidential candidate and his running mate but focus on their competence, while many people and groups such as the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Catholic Church have rejected the plan by the political parties to field a Muslim/Muslim ticket in the 2023 presidential election.

    In an interview with The Punch, Ajomale advised those debating over the Muslim-Muslim ticket to redirect their energies into picking a competent candidate to complement Tinubu’s presidency.

    He asserted that the religion of a presidential candidate does not matter so far as the person can deliver the dividends of democracy to the citizens.

    2023: Boss Mustapha Emerges On List Of Recommendations To Become Tinubu’s Running Mate

    The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha has been recommended as a candidate to emerge as the running mate to the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
    The recommendation was made on Wednesday in a statement by a coalition of pro-democracy and civil society groups made up of the Peoples Alliance for Indigenous Rights (PAIR), Civil Society Action for National Inclusion (CSANI), and Society for Equity and Gender Advocacy (SEGA).

    The statement addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders of the APC was signed by Isa Pai, Chukwudi Emmanuel and Fola Akin.

    According to the coalition, Mustapha as a northern Christian will bring the needed balance to the APC ticket which already has a southern Muslim in the person of Tinubu.

    The group also described the SGF as a top official who has distinguished himself in service and has no baggage attached to him, saying Mustapha will be a good choice.
