    Tinubu/Shettima Ticket: APC Governors Visit Buhari In Daura

    Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress on Monday visited president Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Kastina State.

    The Progressives Governors Forum paid a Sallah homage to the president at his residence.

    The Governors upon their arrival at the president’s residence went into a closed-door meeting.

    The APC Governors after the meeting with Buhari, praised the presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu for choosing former Governor of Borno State, Kassim Shettima as his running mate ahead of the 2023 race.

    The Governors who visited President Buhari on Monday include, Aminu Masari of Katsina State, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State, Abubakar Bello of Niger State, Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Simon Lalong of Plateau State and Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State.

    The Governor of Kebbi State, Bagudu, while speaking after the meeting, said Tinubu-Shettima’s presidency will complement President Buhari’s achievements in the last seven years.

    2023: Shettima Meets Tinubu After Emergence As APC VP Candidate

    Former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima has spoken on his emergence as the running mate of Bola Tinubu under the All Progressives Congress.

    Naija News had earlier reported that Tinubu announced the lawmaker representing Borno Central senatorial district as his running mate.

    Shettima in a post on his Facebook page on Monday appreciated the former Governor of Lagos State for picking him as the Vice-Presidential candidate of APC.

    The lawmaker met with Tinubu on Monday at the airport in Abuja.

    The former Governor of Borno State claimed that he was at an orphanage in Maiduguri when Tinubu announced him as his running mate.

    Atiku Makes Fresh Appointment Ahead Of 2023 Elections

    Former Vice President of Nigeria and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar has approved the appointment of Dr. Ali Bappayo Adamu as his Special Assistant, Business Community (North-East zone).

    The decision on the fresh appointment was made known to Naija News through a statement on Monday signed and made available to our newsroom by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe.

    The statement describes Dr. Bappayo, whose appointment takes immediate effect as a well-rounded young Nigerian.

    2023: Loyalists Of Amaechi Dump APC Days After He Told Them To Vote For Party’s Candidate

    Some strong supporters and allies of the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi have started dumping the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.

    The development has revived worrying signs that all may not be well with the APC in Rivers State a few months before the 2023 general elections.

    In the last one week, Naija News reports some of Amaechi’s loyalists who have dumped the APC include; Dawari George, Marvin Yobana, Nkemka Amadi and Robinson Elechi.

    His former Commissioner for Information and Communications, Ibim Semenitari is the latest to join the trend, Naija News understands.

    This development comes just a few days after he appealed to his supporters not to be angry but to cast their votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 elections.

    Tinubu-Shettima: APC Speaks On Resignation Of National Legal Adviser

    The All Progressives Congress (APC) has denied claims that it’s national legal adviser resigned due to the Bola Tinubu-Kashim Shettima presidential ticket.

    After the party’s flag bearer, Bola Tinubu unveiled former governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima, as his running mate on Sunday, an APC member, Daniel Bwala, alleged to be the national legal adviser of the party, informed the public that he was leaving the party.

    However, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said that the claim that Bwala is the party’s legal adviser is erroneous.

    He said: “Our attention has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating on some media platforms that the National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has resigned.

    “Barr. Ahmad Usman El-Marzuq is, and remains, the National Legal Adviser of APC.

    ‘I Can Not Work For Such A Man’ – Senator Abbo Resigns From Tinubu Support Group Over Muslim/Muslim Ticket

    The lawmaker representing Adamawa north senatorial district, Ishaku Abbo has described Bola Tinubu’s decision to pick a Muslim as his running mate as irresponsible.

    Following the decision of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Abbo resigned his membership in a Tinubu support group.

    The lawmaker confirmed his stand in a chat with Peoples Gazette on Monday.

    Abbo said, “For Tinubu now to be given the ticket and turn around to do what he couldn’t achieve in 2015 despite opposition from Catholics and other Christian leaders is extremely irresponsible.”

    The lawmaker condemned the former Governor of Lagos state for not learning from how President Muhammadu Buhari picked a Christian running mate in 2015 as against the Muslim/Muslim ticket.

    2023: Northern Forum Lists Three Things Tinubu Would Face For Ignoring Christian Running Mate

    The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has reacted to Bola Tinubu’s decision to pick the former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima as his running mate under the All Progressives Congress.

    NEF in its reaction stated that the presidential candidate of APC would face three issues for settling for a Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 presidential election.

    The spokesman of NEF, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, in a post on Twitter on Sunday said Christians would walk away following his decision to pick a Muslim as running mate.

    Baba-Ahmed further stated that all Muslims will align with the presidential ambition of Tinubu.

    He noted that the decision of the former Governor of Lagos State to pick Shettima as the vice-presidential candidate of the APC will not make any difference to his electoral fortunes.

    Baba-Ahmed in the post asked if the faiths of our leaders are important to how they lead.

    A popular priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, Fr. Oluoma Chinenye John has weighed in on the Muslim-Muslim ticket fielded by the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2023 elections.

    Recall that yesterday, Sunday, the party’s flag bearer Bola Ahmed Tinubu had announced former governor of Borno state Kashim Shettima as his running mate.

    The announcement was trailed with various reactions.

    Speaking on the ticket, Father Oluoma, in a statement made on his Facebook page, stated that such a move would continue to trigger religious sentiments in the country.

    The All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu has received another knock over his single-faith presidential ticket for the 2023 election.

    Tinubu had on Sunday declared he has chosen former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima as his running mate for the forthcoming election, sticking to his initial Muslim-Muslim agenda despite calls to pick a Christian as his running mate.

    Joining a host of others to say no to the single-faith ticket, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Mustapha Aliyu on Monday, said the ruling party’s ambition is to divide Nigeria along religious lines, disorganise the people and raise tension among the poor.

    Aliyu, while conversing with newsmen in Kaduna State this morning, said no religion is superior to others, hence the APC should consider a Muslim-Christian ticket for a balance.

    2023: Borno CAN Chairman Supports Shettima’s Candidacy

    The Chairman of the Christians Association of Nigeria in Borno State, Bishop Mohammed Naga has backed the selection of Kashim Shettima as the vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

    Naija News had earlier reported that the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, on Sunday announced the former governor of Borno State as his running mate.

    Bishop Naga, in his reaction to the emergence of Shettima, claimed that the Christian community under the administration of Shettima in 2011 and 2019 had a better deal.

    He pointed to times Shettima supported Christians who were in distress financially as the Governor of Borno State.

    Atiku Will Be In Osogbo To Lead PDP Governorship Campaign – Spokesman

    Paul Ibe, the spokesman for the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has confirmed that his principal is set to cut short his foreign trip to return to the country.

    Ibe stated that Atiku had concluded plans to return to Nigeria and lead the mobilisation of the people of Osun state to vote for the PDP governorship candidate in the Osun election, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

    He asserted that Atiku would be in Osogbo, the Osun State capital to lead the grand rally of the opposition party ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

    The spokesman added that Atiku will also ensure the resolution of all the issues that arose following the conclusion of the nomination processes are addressed.

    Ibe told Daily Trust that, “Atiku will lead from the front once he arrives to reinvigorate and ensure the resolution of all the issues that arose following the conclusion of the nomination processes and it will all be addressed.”

    The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government led by President Muhammadu Buhari has been described as deceitful and insensitive by the Anglican Communion in Calabar, Cross River State.

    Naija News reports that the Church’s position was expressed in a statement by the Bishop of Calabar Diocese, Rev Professor Nneoyi Egbe while reacting to the decision of the ruling party to settle for a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket for the forthcoming election.

    The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike may be en route to bury his grievances which had led to the lingering internal crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP after regrouping with key PDP governors in London.

    Naija News reports that the talks for negotiations come shortly after the Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), Kayode Fayemi, led Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State to a closed-door meeting with the Rivers State governor on Friday.

    The meeting has increased speculations that the Rivers Governor may be plotting to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

    Elder statesman, Tanko Yakasai has commended the decision of the Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Bola Ahmad Tinubu to choose Kashim Shettima as his running mate.

    The cleric claimed the agitation of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has reduced since the emergence of Peter Obi as the Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate.
