    Muslim-Muslim Ticket: APC Working On Nigerian Project, Not Religious Ticket – Lukman

    The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman, North West, Dr. Salihu Lukman has defended the decision of the party to field a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.

    Speaking with newsmen on Friday, Lukman submitted that the intention of the party is not to cause religious tension in the country but to put the best candidates forward.

    It will be recalled that the decision of the APC to field Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima in the 2023 election has sparked controversy in the country with arguments for and against the same faith ticket.

    However, the APC National Vice Chairman said while the concern of those raising objections is well noted, the party is not out to exclude anyone based on religion or other factors.

    2023: Peter Obi, Labour Party Not A Threat To PDP – Atiku

    The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has said the Labour Party (LP) will not be a threat to his party in 2023.

    In an interview on Arise TV on Friday, Atiku said he does not see the Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, winning the 2023 presidential election.

    Atiku added that he is not expecting the LP to pull off a surprise in 2023 because it has no structure and nationwide appeal. He added that the party does not have Governors, members of the National Assembly and State Assemblies.

    The former vice president asserted that the party will not divide the votes meant for the PDP in some regions as suggested by some political analysts.

    The PDP presidential candidate, however, mocked the LP over its performance in the just concluded Osun governorship election.

    ‘Fake Bishops’: Tinubu Told To Withdraw From Presidential Race

    The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the resignation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, following the alleged hiring of fake bishops to attend the unveiling of his running mate, Kashim Shettima.

    The PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon Debo Ologunagba, speaking in a press conference in Abuja on Friday, said that the APC action is an embarrassment to leadership.

    He stated that the people are now aware that the APC are planners and executioners of lies and corruption.

    Osun: Oluwo ‘Dumps’ Oyetola, Pledges Allegiance To Adeleke

    The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale has pledged his support to Osun state governor-elect Senator Ademola Adeleke after his victory at the polls.

    The monarch had congratulated Adeleke asking people to cooperate with him.

    Recall that the monarch had earlier promised the All Progressive Congress 90,000 votes before the election

    “I am confident of delivering 90,000 votes for Governor Oyetola.” he said.

    However, the election was far below the Oba’s expectations as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) lost to the opposition PDP.

    In a statement signed by his Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem, and posted on his social media handle, the monarch called on collaborative support towards Adeleke so that Osun would continue to be great in the face of global economic hardship.

    Why Wike, Makinde And I Didn’t Attend Osun PDP Mega Rally – Ortom

    Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has revealed the reason for his absence and two of his colleagues at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) mega rally in Osun State.

    Naija News reports that Ortom alongside Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) were absent at the rally to canvass votes for the PDP governorship candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

    In an interview on Arise News on Thursday, Ortom said the governors did not attend the PDP rally in Osun because they were out of the country.

    Governor Ortom also refuted claims that they refused to attend the rally because the governors were contemplating dumping the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

    ‘Abuja’ Rejected Tinubu’s Move Against Osun Election – PDP

    The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu has been accused by the Peoples Democratic Party of trying to compromise the 16th July 2022 governorship election in Osun State.

    Recall that the governorship candidate of the PDP, Ademola Adeleke defeated the incumbent governor and candidate of the APC, Gboyega Oyetola.

    PDP claimed that the former Governor of Lagos State ran to Abuja seeking help over the result of the governorship election, but was rejected by stakeholders.

    The National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Debo Ologunagba, stated this during a press conference in Abuja on Friday.

    2023: Shettima Woos Arewa Women To Vote APC, Tinubu

    Former Governor of Borno State and vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kashim Shettima has appealed to women from the Northern party of the country to vote for the ruling party in the forthcoming election.

    Speaking during the formal inauguration of the national executives of the Arewa Women for Tinubu at the Bola Tinubu support group secretariat yesterday, Senator Shettima commended women’s contribution to the ruling party’s course ahead of the 2023 polls.

    The lawmaker said the doggedness and commitment of the women towards the Tinubu/Shettima ticket cannot be played down.

    He acknowledged the immense and valuable contribution of the group led by Hajia Sa’adatu Garba Dogon Bauchi. Shettima assured the women that they would be carried along in all the campaign programmes of the APC presidential team.

    2023: I Am Still Friends With Tinubu – Atiku

    The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, on Friday, stated that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu remains his friend.

    Atiku stated this despite him contesting against the former governor of Lagos State in the 2023 presidential election.

    The former vice president said this during an interview on Arise TV on Friday morning.

    The PDP presidential candidate, when asked about his relationship with Tinubu, noted that they remain friends despite their political differences.

    ‘Fake Bishop’: Tinubu, Shettima Dragged For Insulting Millions Of Christians

    The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, (HURIWA) has fumed at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu for allegedly hiring ‘fake clerics’ to the unveiling of his running mate, Kashim Shettima.

    HURIWA’s National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, in a statement, said Tinubu and Shettima insulted millions of Nigerians with such acts of blasphemy.

    The group said Nigeria would have been on fire if Christain-Christain presidential hopefuls had recruited fake imams to portray public acceptance.

    HURIWA further said that the failure to mention the names of the hired bishops and their denominations shows the grand deception staged by Tinubu and Shetima.

    2023: Atiku Speaks On Meeting Wike Over Running Mate Saga

    The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has said he is already reaching out to Governor Nyesom Wike over the internal wranglings in the party.

    The former Vice President made this known in a chat with Arise TV on Friday and monitored by Naija News.

    Recall that Atiku had picked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election, despite the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) endorsing Wike for the role.

    Due to the development, some aggrieved members had reportedly threatened defection, insisting that Wike should be picked as the party’s vice presidential candidate.

    However, some PDP chieftains like Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State had said that Atiku should have contacted Wike before announcing Okowa as his running mate.

    Speaking about resolving issues with Wike, Atiku assured party members that he will be meeting with Wike soon and the party’s internal crisis will be soon resolved.

    2023: I Didn’t Reject Wike As My Running Mate – Atiku

    The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has denied claims that he rejected Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State as his running mate.
    Naija News reports that the former vice president made the disclosure during an interview on Arise TV on Friday.

    Recall that Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State in an interview last month said 14 out of 17 members of the PDP panel preferred Wike as the vice-presidential candidate of the party.

    Ortom claimed Atiku had ignored the recommendations of the panel he set up to pick his running mate by picking Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as his running mate.

    Following the development, Governor Wike and other PDP chieftains were offended with Atiku over the choice of Okowa as his vice presidential candidate.

    Speaking in the interview, Atiku refuted claims made by Ortom that the panel voted and chose Wike as the preferred candidate for the vice presidential slot.

    Nigerians Will Remember Buhari As A Man Who Made A Difference – Presidency

    The presidency has declared that after his tenure ends in 2023, many Nigerians will look back and always remember President Muhammadu Buhari as a man who made a lot of difference on many fronts.

    The special adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina made the remark in an article via his Facebook page on Thursday.

    According to Adesina, though his party contested the Osun governorship election held on July 16, President Buhari refused to deploy federal might or influence the outcome of the polls in favour of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Gboyega Oyetola.

    The presidential media aide argued that this is contrary to what usually obtained when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) controlled the central government.

    He added that when the PDP candidate, Ademola Adeleke was eventually declared the winner of the election, President Buhari was quick to issue a congratulatory statement.

    The media aide stressed that the legacy of free and fair elections is one thing Buhari has always stood for and will be remembered for when he leaves office.

    Osun Election: Oyetola Replies Adeleke Over Comment On Looting State’s Assets

    The outgoing Governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, has urged the governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke to start planning toward delivering his electoral promises to the people instead of “peddling lies and propaganda” to earn public sympathy.

    This comes after Adeleke’s spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, in a statement on Thursday, accused Oyetola’s appointees of looting the state’s properties under the governor’s supervision.

    “We have it on good authority that Osun state assets within the state, Kogi, Lagos, Abuja and outside the country are being tampered with for private acquisition,” Adeleke had alleged.

    But reacting through the Osun Commissioner for Information, Funke Egbemode, Governor Oyetola referred to Adeleke, as an ‘incurable propagandist’ over the latter’s allegation that he was making plans to divert the government’s assets for private acquisition.

    Egbemode urged citizens of the state to ignore the governor-elect’s “fake lamentations”.

    Elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark has congratulated the People’s Democratic Party and the Osun state governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke on the just concluded gubernatorial election.

    Speaking on the election which held on July 16 via a statement released on Thursday night, Clark commended President Muhammadu Buhari for describing the election as the will of the people.

    However, he condemned a statement made by the All Progressives Congress national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, before the election.

    Adamu had reportedly urged the PDP to do all it takes within the law to win the Osun Polls.

    2023: Dino Melaye Reacts As Tinubu Forgets Name Of His Political Party

    Former Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district, Dino Melaye has mocked the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, for being reminded of the name of his political party.

    Naija News earlier reported that a video of Tinubu’s hands trembling while giving a speech at a public event emerged online.

    In the video, Tinubu called ‘Action Congress’ before he was corrected by his associates at the event.

    Reacting to this, Dino, in a video shared on his social media page, said Nigerians cannot move from saying ‘baba’ to ‘saying kaka’.

    He said Nigerians are already frustrated with the current administration and will not graduate to a grandfather.

    Tinubu Wanted Me To Field A Muslim-Muslim Ticket For Action Congress In 2007 Election – Atiku

    The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar has said that his relationship with Bola Tinubu took a turn for the worse in 2007 after the former governor demanded he fields a Muslim-Muslim ticket in that year’s presidential election.

    Atiku, who was the presidential candidate of the now-defunct opposition Action Congress, contested against Umar Yar’Adua of the then-ruling PDP. Yar’Adua won the election, but died in office three years in May 2010.

    Atiku, speaking on the past event during an interview with Arise Television, said that he became politically estranged with Tinubu after he presented Ben Obi, a Christian from southern Nigeria, as his vice-presidential candidate in the 2007 election.

    2023: Underprivileged Nigerians Are My Supporters – Peter Obi

    The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has said that all underprivileged Nigerians and those who are finding it difficult to live his supporters.

    The former Governor of Anambra State said this on Wednesday during a visit to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State in his private residence in Abuja.

    Speaking further, Obi said the 100 million Nigerians living in poverty and the five million people unemployed make up his political structure.

    He said: “I have said it before when people talk about structure, that my structure [is] the 100 million Nigerians living in poverty. That’s five million people unemployed.

    “Those people who are finding it difficult to live. Nigerians are here today spending over 100% of their money on feeding, that is my structure. And above all, the most important structure is the Almighty God.”
