The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, is set to unveil his running mate.
There had been speculation that famous Nigerian actress Funke Akindele might emerge as the party’s Deputy Governorship candidate.
According to Vanguard, a yet-to-be-confirmed report has it that four other names have made the list to emerge as Jandor’s running mate
Among those shortlisted are: Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour; former Senatorial candidate for Lagos East, Yeye Shobajo, another governorship aspirant, David Kolawole Vaughan known as DAKOVA, and Engr. Teslim Balogun.
Naija News had earlier reported that Jandor and Akindele’s poster was spotted online, with claims that Akindele might be the party’s deputy governorship candidate.
However, it was stated that the Nollywood actress was only nominated as a potential running mate ahead of the 2023 governorship election.
The Head of Media and Communications of the campaign organization of Jandor, Gbenga Ogunleye, in a statement, said, “At the moment (Wednesday morning), the process of selection of a credible candidate who will add value to the ticket is ongoing and the organ of the party, as well as all critical stakeholders, are involved in the process.”
However, two shortlisted candidates – Rhodes-Vivour and Kolawole – are from Lagos West, the same senatorial district as Jandor, hence reducing their chances.
Yeye Shobajo and Funke Akindele are from the East, while Balogun is from Lagos Central.
