The All Progressives Congress loyal to the minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has seen some of its members in the Kwara State chapter dump the party.
The development was confirmed by the secretary of the faction, Tajudeen Mohammed, in a chat with Daily Trust.
He said, “I can confirm to you that we have left APC. Although we have not decided on our next line of action yet, but we are still consulting to determine the party we will go to actualize our aspirations.”
Meanwhile, a lawmaker in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Saheed Popoola, has dumped the APC for Social Democratic Party (SDP).
The defection of Popoola makes it the first time an aggrieved member of the party will openly defect to another party due to the crisis rocking the party in the state.
Popoola is a loyalist of the minister of information and culture, who is the leader of the factional APC in the state.
There are speculations that some other aggrieved members of the ruling party might defect ahead of the 2023 general elections.
