Ifeanyi Ubah Joins Anambra Governorship Race

The senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Ifeanyi Ubah, has joined the race to become the governor of Anambra State.

In a letter addressed to President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, and read at Wednesday’s plenary, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) chieftain said he is joining the Nov. 6 governorship poll to contribute to the development of the state.

He added that the reason for his decision was hinged on revamping and consolidating the state’s credentials as the light of the nation.

Ubah, however, humbly solicited his colleague’s well wishes, prayers, and support which he said will go a long way in making this noble vision a reality.

Recall that businessman ran for the post in 2014, as a candidate of Labour Party, but lost to incumbent Willie Obiano.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) has urged the federal government to take more decisive steps towards solving the many security challenges facing the nation.

Chairman of the NGF, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti made the call on Wednesday while speaking with newsmen at the end of the forum’s meeting in Abuja.

He said the current security situation has attained a worrisome level and needs to be tackled immediately to avert dire consequences.

Particularly, the NGF expressed worries over the recent attacks in Imo and Ebonyi States as well as the killing of soldiers in Benue State.

Fayemi noted that the security situation in the country could have been worse but for the intervention efforts of the various governors in their respective states.

He, therefore, called for a review of the security set up in the country with a view to proferring workable and lasting solutions.
