Gana Speaks On Wike Challenging Atiku’s Candidacy In Court

A member of the Peoples Democratic Party, Board of Trustees (BOT), Jerry Gana, on Friday spoke on Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike challenging the outcome of the presidential primary of the party.

Gana in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday, in Abuja said Governor Wike is not behind the suit challenging the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.

A suit had emerged on Friday challenging the candidacy of Atiku and calling on the court to declare Governor Wike as the authentic candidate of the party.

Governor Wike, however, denied being behind the suit and accused Atiku’s men of filing the suit against the former vice president.

According to Gana, the report that Governor Wike filed the suit is false.

The PDP chieftain wrote, “We unequivocally state that Wike has not and will not challenge the outcome of the just concluded PDP Presidential Primaries in Court.

“He has long moved beyond such an action to focus on matters of how best to ensure victory for the PDP in the forthcoming elections.”

Gana also speaking on Governor Wike ordering the removal of PDP’s flag from the Government House and Governor’s Office said, “This again is false and misleading. The Rivers State Governor never gave such instructions.

“It appears that some forces within and outside the party are expressly opposed to the reconciliation moves between Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Wike.

“Such malicious efforts will surely fail by the grace of God.

“Let me assure all party faithful and supporters that we are strongly determined to ensure the success of the current reconciliation process.

“Building a stronger and more united Peoples Democratic Party is our priority as we move towards the 2023 General Elections.”
