The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has told the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, that former APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, is not responsible for Governor Godwin Obaseki’s woes.
Naija News had reported that Shaibu had warned Oshiomhole against overturning the victory of governor Obaseki at the September 2020 governorship election through the judiciary.
Speaking during an empowerment programme for Afemai Youths in Ogbona and Jattu respectively at the weekend, Shaibu claimed that Oshiomhole was instrumental to the Supreme Court victory of Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.
He accused Oshiomhole of plotting to repeat the Uzodinma’s model to upturn the popular victory of Obaseki in the State. Shaibu warned the former Edo governor against subverting the will of the people through the judiciary.
Reacting to comments made by Shaibu, the state Deputy Charman of the party, Jarret Tenebe, said Oshiomhole is not to be blamed for Obaseki’s legal tussle.
Tenebe accused Obaseki and Shaibu of blackmailing the judiciary over their inability to present their certificates but instead resulted in filing frivolous appeals from one court to another. He, however, asked Obaseki and Shaibu to rather present his certificate as demanded by the court.
He added that the new tactics of the governor and his deputy were not only diversionary but also a calculated attempt to drag the hard-earned reputation of the honourable justices into the mud.
Tenebe opined that the APC’s response was necessary on the matter to stop the state government from feeding the public with fake news.
He said: “I will describe the deputy governor as a frustrated and confused man who talks from both sides of his mouth as well as seeking for survival.
“Oshiomhole believes totally in the judiciary having gotten his stolen mandate through the instrumentality of the courts.”
