The spokesman of the Atiku-Okowa 2023 campaign, Daniel Bwala has reacted to Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate Peter Obi’s visits to churches.
Recall that Naija News had earlier reported that the vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ifeanyi Okowa during an interview with Daily Trust urged obi to stop trying to use the Church or drive Christians into politics because it is not their calling.
He had said: “Now you begin to look at what is going on; the Peter Obi factor is as if he is trying to go through the church and make it look as if he is driving the Christians into politics. I do not believe that the church should actively go into politics because that is not their calling.”
Sharing his thoughts on Obi’s visit to churches, Bwala while fielding questions from a journalist on the Voice of the People FM Radio said that the LP flag bearer ought to meet Muslim faithfuls as well.
He also condemned Obi for flying commercial especially during important visits.
He said, “Peter Obi ought to have taken it upon himself to also meet our Muslim brothers and campaign but he is not bordered. And I will give you an example, somebody close to me narrated to me and I will not disclose the name. The person said he agreed to meet them for a meeting. He waited for him for five hours, but he came late. And then when he said we waited for you and you are supposed to come earlier. He said our flight was delayed.
“Then the person saying you want to be president and you are flying commercial when the time is short. You are in a new political party. That you need to come out. That means you will arrive a day after the election.”
Bwala went on to state that the LP flag bearer was being pretentious for flying commercial, adding that flying commercial does not automatically translate to winning the election.
