The MoU read by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige agreed to set up a 10-member committee to fashion out a work plan to resolve the impasse between the Kaduna State Government and NLC following disagreements over the sacking of thousands of civil servants by the Nasir El-Rufai government.

The Head of Civil Service in the state, Bariatu Mohammed will chair the committee while the NLC Deputy President, Najeem Yasin will serve as its vice-chairperson.

The committee is mandated to revert to the Minister of Labour and Employment on or before next Tuesday, May 25, to enable the completion of the process of resolution.

El-Rufai had declared the NLC President, Ayuba Wabba and some other Labour leaders wanted for “economic sabotage” and likened them to bandits.

The labour leaders had kicked against against El-Rufai’s move to sack thoisands of workers in the state and subsequently declared a five-day warning strike.

The strike was suspended on Wednesday following the intervention of the Minister of Labour and Employment.
