The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has labelled the call by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for it to be deregistered as ‘beer palour rant.’

It will be recalled as previously reported by Naija News that following the dissolution of APC structures at ward, zonal, and state levels by the party’s NEC on Tuesday, the PDP called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the party.

It also urged the electoral umpire to declare all APC legislative seats vacant.

“Congratulations Nigerians as the platform of your tormentors in over 5 years, @OfficialAPCNg , has finally fizzled out of political firmament.”

“We invite @inecnigeria to immediately deregister the party and declare all their seats in the parliament vacant,” the PDP spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan had written on Tuesday.

However, in a swift response, the APC said the statement on its deregistration is the latest beer palour rant by the PDP.

It wrote: “We had initially dismissed an incomprehensible statement credited to a spokesperson of the PDP as fake until further checks confirmed its authenticity.”

“In its latest beer palour rant, the PDP has called on the INEC to deregister APC and declare vacant the seats of APC lawmakers.

It also urged the PDP to put its house in order and pay staff salaries before poke nosing into the internal affairs of other parties.

In other news, we earlier reported that Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has rejected the idea of zoning the 2023 presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to a particular region.

Naija News reports that there have been calls on the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to zone their presidential ticket to the South, with some individuals asking the major political parties to micro-zone it to the South-east.

But in an interview with Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Fayemi said he understands why those from a particular zone who feel marginalized are clamoring for the presidency.

He however stated that Nigeria is multicultural, multireligious and multiethnic, adding that “one of the equilibrating mechanisms is to ensure that those in leadership represent the mosaic that the country is”.
