APC: Marafa Rejects Matawalle As Leader, Challenges Buni National Leadership

    Jul 4, 2021

A former Senator representing Zamfara Central Senatorial District, Kabir Marafa has disclosed that the agreements that brought Governor Bello Matawalle to APC didn’t include making him the leader in Zamfara State.

He, therefore, challenged the declaration made by the chairman of the APC national caretaker committee, Mai Mala Buni which positioned Matawalle as the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State.

Marafa who warned Buni to thread carefully added that the legality of his position as the APC national caretaker committee chairman will soon be challenged as well.

Naija News recalls Matawalle recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC and was proclaimed as the party leader in Zamfara State by Buni but the proclamation seems to have caused a fresh crisis among some party stalwarts.

Particularly, Marafa during an interview with Arise Television over the development rejected Matawalle as his leader.

He added that the Buni-led committee does not have the power to make such pronouncements.

“It is better for APC to let the sleeping dog lie.

“Time will come we are going to challenge even his legality of him been a Chairman of APC

“When you look at APC constitution especially section 17, sub 4 it prevented him from becoming APC chairman, so we are going to ask the question when the need arises,” he said.

Marafa charged the APC to be fair and just to avoid plunging the party into more problems, explaining that the Supreme Court ruling which brought in Marafa as the Zamfara State Governor doesn’t recognize the party’s claim to power.

“Based on the ruling of the Supreme Court, APC cannot have a Governor, Members of House of Representatives or state House of Assembly.

“The judgment made by the Supreme Court says APC ought not to participate in the 2019 election in Zamfara State, that means there was no APC at all.

“So every attempt by anybody to say that he is a Governor of APC between 2019 to 2023 without reason of death or resignation is challenging the ruling of Supreme Court.

“So please APC all Zamfara people are saying be fair and just to us,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Nigerian Music legend, Eedris Abdulkareen has described politicians dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as prostitutes.

Speaking to DailyPost, the Jagajaga crooner lamented that Nigeria is fast becoming a one-party state.

According to him, the PDP has lost its relevance and cannot be recognized as a strong opposition party.
