BREAKING: APC Dissolves State, Zonal, National Structures

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday dissolved all wards, states, Zonal and national party structures.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State announced this while speaking to State House reporters after the NEC meeting alongside Governors Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Hope Uzodinma (Imo), and Secretary of the CECPC, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe.

The Kaduna governor said the NEC condemned the call for the resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and their allies.

The NEC meeting which was held at the Presidential Villa had in attendance President Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other party chieftains.

Speaking at the NEC meeting, President Buhari urged members of the ruling party to make sacrifices that will move the party forward.

The President said, “I want to appeal to all our party members and leaders at all levels, to try and make the required sacrifices so that we are able to collectively restore our progressive and democratic political party, which can nurture and give expression to our collective dream of building a strong, united and developed Nigeria.

“May I use this opportunity to remind all of us of the need to recreate our negotiation secret of 2012, 2013 under our legacy parties. What guided our success to achieve the merger that produced the APC was the respect we were able to have for each other.

“In those times, decisions reached at both formal and informal consultations were respected with trusted initiatives taken and believed that they were needed to produce the required political platform that could guarantee electoral victory.”

Also speaking at the meeting, the Caretaker Chairman of the Party and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni said his committee had been able to reconcile warring factions in the APC.

“Tempers within our party have substantially come down. Although the works of our various reconciliation committees are yet to be concluded. While progress are being recorded by our respective reconciliation committees, the task of reconciliation should be continuous, the NEC may therefore wish to review development and direct accordingly,” he said.

Naija News reports that the APC NEC also approved the expulsion of a former Vice Chairman (South) of the party, Hilliard Eta.
