The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has said that all underprivileged Nigerians and those who are finding it difficult to live his supporters.

The former Governor of Anambra State said this on Wednesday during a visit to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State in his private residence in Abuja.

Speaking further, Obi said the 100 million Nigerians living in poverty and the five million people unemployed make up his political structure.

He said: “I have said it before when people talk about structure, that my structure [is] the 100 million Nigerians living in poverty. That’s five million people unemployed.

“Those people who are finding it difficult to live. Nigerians are here today spending over 100% of their money on feeding, that is my structure. And above all, the most important structure is the Almighty God.”

Naija News reports that Obi’s presidential campaign has been criticised for lacking real-life structure despite a strong support base on social media.

The former Anambra governor has also been criticised for not having a nationwide grassroots support base, stating that his chances of winning the 2023 presidential election would be slim.

Meanwhile, Obi has stated that the consistent collapse of the national grid exposes the failure of the Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government.

The national power grid collapsed for the sixth time around noon on Wednesday, throwing the nation into darkness.

Reacting in a post on his Twitter handle on Thursday, Obi said the continuous failure of the present administration to fix the power sector is a compelling catalyst for a leadership change.
