2023: Reject Muslim-Muslim Ticket – Senator Suswam Tells Constituents

The Senator representing Benue North-East Senatorial District, Gabriel Suswam has called on his constituents to reject the Muslim-Muslim Presidential ticket put forward by the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 elections.

Suswam made the call before the representatives of women, youths elders and traditional rulers on Friday in Adikpo, Kwande local while distributing fertiliser for this year’s farming season.

The immediate past Benue State Governor alleged that the emergence of a Muslim president and Muslim vice president of Nigeria will directly tamper with the diversity and structural balance of the country.

According to him, the choice of a Muslim-Muslim ticket by APC represents the height of insensitivity and is a deliberate attempt to sideline Christians from the topmost decision-making hierarchy in the country.

Suswam said should that be allowed to happen, it will reduce Christians in Nigeria to such an inferior status as will undermine the relative parity currently obtainable between adherents of Christianity and Islam as the two major religions in the country.

“The existing status quo which has always had a Christian paired with a Muslim or the other way round for the two topmost political offices in the country must be maintained in the best interest of all.

“The current APC presidential pairing of Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shetima portends ill for Nigeria and should be rejected by all who mean well for the country,” Senator Suswam adviced.

In separate responses, State Vice Chairman of the PDP for Benue North-East, Hon Azua Avough Ashongo, council Chairmen for Katsina-Ala and Kwande, Hons. Atera Alfred and Orjiir Gbande, representatives of women, youths and the traditional councils of the two local government areas thanked Senator Suswam for the gesture which they said will boost agricultural production in their areas, pledged to always make political choices that will be in the best interest of Nigeria and her peoples.
