The former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has charged the youths to change the leadership of Nigeria if they want to see a difference in the situation.
Naija News reports that Obasanjo made this known on Friday during a recent visit by the controversial veteran singer, Charles Oputa better known as Charly Boy.
Speaking to the veteran singer cum activist about the country, Obasanjo said that the current situation of the country is not the fault of God, but the choice of the leadership, adding that no one will be able to do it other than the youths.
He maintained that bad leadership is the reason why many are poor and frustrated, particularly the youths, noting that he will ensure Nigeria gets the leadership it deserves, reason why he doesn’t want just any individual who would not achieve whatever they had promised to do.
When asked to advise “frustrated Nigerians” Obasanjo said, “That we are frustrated and poor is not the fault of God, it is the choice of our leaders. And if you have to change that, change our situation, you have to change leadership. I always say, Nigeria is my own baby, the one I want to put a beautiful bead on its waist, not an individual.
“In the north they say, ‘La mu la muni’. ‘Tiwa n tiwa’, in south-east, it’s ‘Nka bu ka nyi.’ Now, that is not the issue, the issue is Nigeria.”
