A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Ikeobasi Mokelu, has reportedly joined the 2023 presidential race.

The former Minister of Information and an ally to President Muhammadu Buhari, is making moves to engage party members in the South-East and in his Ubolo Unodu Ward 1, Oraifite, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, the PUNCH reports.

The politician who served under the Sani Abacha regime has reportedly made clear plans to obtain the APC expression of interest and nomination forms and would make a public declaration soon, Naija News learnt.

The ex-minister was said to have been assured of support by some elements in the presidency.

Naija News understands that Mokelu was the convener of ‘I Stand With Buhari’ Movement in 2018, and was said to be a regular visitor to the Presidential Villa.

Meanwhile, the Convener of Concerned Nigerians Group, Deji Adeyanju has reacted to the 2023 presidential declaration of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

In a speech on Monday, Osinbajo promised to complete the works started by President Muhammadu Buhari if elected the next President in 2023.

The vice president said he would focus on creating a tech economy, lifting 100 million out of poverty and security, among other areas.

Reacting to Osinbajo’s presidential declaration in a tweet via his Twitter handle, Adeyanju slammed the presidential hopeful for joining the race, having served as vice president for eight years.

The political activist claimed that the vice president was ‘extremely incompetent’.
